Man United fans explode at ‘unforgivable’ INEOS after ‘Tottenham hijack Bryan Mbeumo deal’

Man United fans reacted in anger towards owners INEOS after a frustrating update emerged in the race for top target Bryan Mbeumo.

Mbeumo enjoyed a standout season with Brentford, scoring 20 Premier League goals and firmly establishing himself as one of the division’s most dangerous forwards.

But his impressive form hasn’t gone unnoticed, and with the summer window already in full swing, the forward is edging closer to a move away from the Gtech Community Stadium.

Football Insider reported on 9 June that Man United were close to finalising a deal for Mbeumo, even after seeing an initial bid rejected.

However, the transfer window is already moving at a fast pace, as it now seems as if Mbeumo is sought after by Tottenham, who now may hold an advantage in a potential deal and concerns that a top target could slip through the club’s grasp.

Tottenham hold talks over Bryan Mbeumo following Thomas Frank appointment

Earlier this week, it was confirmed that Tottenham have appointed Brentford boss Thomas Frank as their new head coach, replacing Ange Postecoglou after a turbulent campaign.

Now, it appears Spurs are wasting no time in the transfer market. Lyall Thomas of Sky Sports reported that the club have already held “initial discussions” with Brentford over a potential deal for Mbeumo.

He added that Frank’s arrival “increases chances” of the transfer happening, with the Dane keen to reunite with his 20-goal forward at his new club.

This comes after Football Insider revealed on 13 June that Tottenham could look to hijack Manchester United’s move for Mbeumo. However, United are still believed to be leading the race for his signature—for now.

Man United fans turn on INEOS amid fears Mbeumo deal could collapse

Man United’s fans have been critical of INEOS ever since they took control of major decisions at the club since their arrival.

Back in February, former chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Man United were suffering from INEOS’ “total mismanagement”, and tensions have continued to grow among the fanbase.

Despite already securing Matheus Cunha, the forward line remains a major area of concern following an underwhelming season from Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee.

While Frank is not expected to strip Brentford of all their stars whilst at Tottenham, his interest in Mbeumo has concerned United fans. Many fear that missing out on the prolific winger would highlight deeper issues at board level.

One fan wrote: “If we mess up the Mbeumo deal to Spurs it would be unforgivable” while another added: “If they don’t get [Mbeumo] done then yeah, INEOS out.”
