Exclusive: Southampton ready bid for Norwich star Abu Kamara

Southampton are readying a formal offer for Norwich City winger Abu Kamara, sources have told Football Insider.

The Saints are making a move for the England Under-20 international with Norwich reluctant to lose him after his impressive loan.

The Premier League new boys are in the market for attacking reinforcements as they prepare for their top-flight return.

Kamara, 20, excelled on loan at Southampton’s arch-rivals Portsmouth last season, scoring 10 goals in 52 matches to help the club win League One and promotion to the Championship.

Football Insider revealed (July 30) that Southampton have completed a move for Chile international Ben Brereton Diaz from Villarreal.

Southampton want Abu Kamara after impressive Portsmouth loan

Kamara had been at Norwich his whole career before his loan move to Portsmouth but only made three appearances for the first team.

The youngster was prolific throughout the youth ranks, scoring 44 goals in 83 appearances for the Under-18s up to the Under-23s.

Even though Kamara’s time at Portsmouth was brief he quickly became a fan favourite thanks to his quick feet and fearlessness when taking defenders on.

Not many players have played for both Portsmouth and Southampton the rivalry is so fierce. David Connolly was the last in 2012 only he did it the other way around.
